Felsted School sponsored a highly successful two day equestrian show at Codham Park, attended by schools from all over the county.
The first day was the NSEA Arena Eventing Championship Qualifiers and the second day was the Hickstead Showjumping qualifiers. The Felsted riders had many clear rounds and the 90cm group placed sixth on the first day. On the second day, Felsted’s Henry Squibb came first in the 1.1m showjumping class, qualifying him for the NSEA Elite competition at Hickstead on 1 August.
This was the latest in a line of successes for Henry, who also competed in the Pony of the Year Show and over the four days of competition, placed in every class, winning one. This is a great achievement for Henry who was at least three years younger than the other competitors. He also won the prestigious British Showjumping 148cm Special Championship for riders under 16 on his pony Sultan du Barry.
Felsted Prep Headmaster, Mr Simon James presented the first and second placed riders in each class with their rosettes and prizes, which were kindly sponsored by Squibb Group, Jackson-Stopps and Apatchy London.
The two days were a great success; Codham Park put on a great show and it was lovely to see the Felsted riders represent the school so well. Mrs Paula Pilcher, Head of Felsted Equestrian
Felsted also had a number of successes at the Essex County Challenge and Hickstead Elite Qualifier over the Easter weekend. Emily Gallian, aged 11 finished the 70cm Showjumping class in 2nd place and as the highest placed Essex rider she qualified to at the NSEA County Championships at Bury Farm. The Felsted 1m Hickstead Elite team of Poppy Buckenham, Isabel Scott-Bowden, Natasha Worsick and Sam Wisbey also placed second, qualifying them for the Hickstead Elite competition on 1 August.
