Felsted Glanville Cup A senior team defeated Haileybury at Felsted School on Thursday 6 May.  The Glanville Cup has the Boys playing Singles and Doubles. Congratulations to the boys who defeated Haileybury 10 rubbers to 2. Sam C, Theo Mc, Jacob S and Head of Tennis Jason WM. 

The Senior Boys B Glanville Cup team had an away match against Sandringham. Jason WM, Jacob S, Gus P and Seb MM managed to hold there own against the Glanville Cup finalists of 2019. The boys B team were unlucky to come across Sandringham so early in the competition as they are seeded one. An enjoyable experience was had by the whole team. 

Meanwhile, the U15A and B Boys AEGON travelled to KEGS for their recent match. KEGS have always been traditionally strong in tennis and their U15 boys were tough opponents. In the B team Louis L, Fred F, Rufus C and Oliver T battled hard in the lovely sunshine. The KEGS team were very good and the boys put up a great fight with Oliver T getting a great win and some of the other sets being close. In the A team they narrowly missed out on a draw which would have taken the match to a 10 point shootout. Seb S, Charlie M, Rayan M and Luke S played so well and were great ambassadors for the school. Seb S played some unbelievable tennis against an excellent player and won 10-8 in the tiebreak saving match balls. Luke S showed some grit and determination to take a win against a tough opponent. Overall some excellent tennis from all the boys in the teams.

The 1st V1 Girls Aberdare Cup was played at Felsted against a very highly rated New Hall team. The Girls fought extremely hard having to play the best of 3 sets in singles and doubles. Jemima L, Jess B and Martine B’s opposition had an impressive 3.1 and 4.1 Lta Rating. Special mention must go to Frankie B who lost against an opponent 4 ratings higher than her in a championship tiebreaker in the 3rd set 8-10. Martine B and Frankie played another 3 set doubles match again being piped at the post 9-11 in the third set.
