Sport Scholars & Award Holders Spring Term Update

by Mr Charlie Knightley, Director of Sport

Juniors: We have tried to keep to the structure of developing Leadership skills. The pupils looked at when it is appropriate to be the encourager and when the enforcer in a sporting environment. This is not an easy skill, but does get the pupils to think about teammates and their role in the team. It can often help your own game if you can help others, but knowing when to call someone to task is a little tougher. The group was then asked to use their leadership skills in devising a skills challenge that could be shared with the Felsted Sport at Home classrooms for the rest of the school to attempt. I had many excellent entries and a few of these will be being used each week as we progress with remote learning. Many congratulations to Hannah Bacon who was the overall winner and her video went live to all earlier this week.

Many of the group have been leading well in the sport challenges and so the next venture was to create your own Flexibility session to complement the sport classroom activities set each week. Once up and running they have been asked to try and do the session at least once a week to compliment the CV, core and skills challenges.

Seniors: Mentors have been touching base with the pupils and a different set of sporting podcasts for the pupils to think about are being added to the classroom each fortnight. They have had the opportunity to watch some podcasts on nutrition and sport recently and asked to think which dietary intake best suits their ambitions.
