Poppy Tydeman - Star Netballer on The Rise

Felsted student Poppy Tydeman has had a phenomenal season for the 1st netball team, and has produced numerous 'player of the match' performances. This is her second season in the first team at just Year 10. This extremely talented youngster has taken her netball to a new height, after recently trialling for and securing a place at Benecos Mavericks U19 Futures Academy Hub.

This is a great achievement as it is against all netballers across Essex. This is not the first time Poppy has been selected for a high level of netball within Essex, as Poppy has been used as a benchmark athlete for the next intake of potential Satellite and County players. Essentially, Poppy was the standard that players were expected to meet in order to be considered for entry into County Netball.

Even more impressive, Poppy is training and playing up against netballers 4 years older than herself. The Mavericks Hub is hopefully the starting point for Poppy’s netball career, where she can train and play against other talented players and hopefully be in the best place for trials for the Mavericks U17s next season.

Poppy has really improved this year with many other schools commenting on her impressive form and skills. She has been a real asset to our 1sts, getting impressive turnovers and interceptions against all opponents. It seems playing against older competitors does not phase Poppy and has definitely not affected her turnover rate.

We are really proud of Poppy and her amazing achievement and we hope that this is the starting point for a very bright and successful netball career.
