Felsted’s Nick Water Skis Through To The Nationals

Felsted pupil, Nick Smyth, has qualified for the U17 Water Skiing National Championships after setting new personal bests in his two ranking slalom events at Oxford and Gosfield.

Having only been water skiing for three years and competing for two, Nick, a boarder at Felsted School, finished last season ranking in the top 50 in Europe for U14 boys. He also had the chance to compete alongside the world champion, Freddie Winter, who gave him some tips. Joining the U17 division, Nick is currently ranked fourth in the U17 boys and sixth overall in the UK handicap, with a personal best of 5 buoys at 55kph.

I’ve loved waterskiing since the first time I tried it. I’ve worked really hard between seasons, skiing through the winter and it’s so great to have qualified for the nationals.
