The MCC arrived at Felsted for the annual cricket fixture against the Felsted girls’ 1st XI. Grace Poole was our captain for the day, completed the toss and took Felsted out to field for 25 overs.

Felsted started well with the ball, Grace Poole and Emma Jones opened the bowling and kept their lines tight making it hard for the MCC. The MCC fought hard and didn’t give any chances away, rotating the strike well and putting the bad ball to the boundary. The MCC batted well with two ladies hitting 50 runs in their 25 overs and finished their innings on 148.

Grace Poole and Alex Went headed out to bat with the aim of chasing these runs down. Both started the chase well and kept up with the required run rate when Alex was run out. Grace continued now alongside Emma who was striking the ball well. 

Grace put Felsted in a strong position with a good 50 runs and a partnership with Emma. However, a cluster of wickets fell which now put Felsted under pressure and the run rate started to climb with just a few overs to go. It came down to the final over but Felsted reached the required total of 149.
