Felsted Cricket Ties against the Odds AGAIN!

Felsted had an unbelievable result with their girls’ and boys’ cricket matches ending in ties.

Felsted’s 1st XI girls and 1st XI boys both tied their fixtures with Framlingham, the chances of which are extraordinarily low, estimated at more than one in a million!!

Back in May 2021 Felsted remarkably also had two ties on one day for their 1st XIs, but against different opposition. This year Felsted had the same results again, but against the same opposition!

In a 100 ball game (the ECB’s new format) the Felsted girls’ 1st XI got off to a very good start with the ball in hand. Felsted’s Jess O was responsible for the first wicket with a direct hit run out. Framlingham continued to bat well and Felsted’s fielders put in some excellent stops to stem the flow of runs.

Framlingham finished their 100 balls on 131-4, a very good score. Felsted’s opening batters started in similar fashion to Framlingam and built up the runs quickly, with Jess O showing why she has been representing the Sunrisers this summer, adding 54 and Abbie C 41. Felsted’s middle order kept the run chase alive and with some stolen quick single in the final few deliveries, Felsted managed to get 131 runs on the board and the match was tied, as Ruby H was run out from the final ball, trying to grab the winning run.

The boys’ game was equally as exciting with both teams finishing on scores of 269. They all performed at a high level, but throughout the game was played in excellent spirit. A particular mention to Felsted’s top scorers Walter F and Guy M-J who played excellently throughout the day.

Felsted Head, Chris Townsend comments; “The chances of this happening for the second year in a row at Felsted must be close to one in a billion! This is definitely one for the honours board and is a great addition to Felsted’s rich cricketing history.”
