Equestrian Update - Summer 2018

In early August, in the extreme temperatures, our committed riders were once again representing Felsted in a prestigious competition at Hickstead.

Having qualified for the 1m Show Jumping Championship competition earlier in the year, Georgia M, Natasha W, Sam W and Isabel S-B all jumped fantastic clear rounds and finished 9th out of 20 teams, all 4 with clear rounds is amazing, they were not quite as quick against the clock.  Things never run smoothly, on the way to Hickstead Natasha's horsebox had a tyre blow-out, the organisers very kindly waited for Natasha to arrive, she kept her cool and jumped a brilliant clear round despite the rush and lack of time for warming up.

In the Hurstpierpoint College National Schools Championships 1.05m Show Jumping Harry P, Isabel S-B, Sam W and Henry S were tied on 4 faults after the first round with three other schools, the team had to nominate one rider to jump-off for a place in the final, Henry S was nominated and jumped a fabulous round and the team were through to the final in the famous International Arena - finishing in 4th place out of 29 teams.  For Harry P this was the highest that he had ever jumped in competition and he did amazingly well on the hallowed turf at Hickstead.

This was the last time that our Upper Sixth leavers Sam W and Isabel S-B will jump for Felsted, we would like to thank them for their many years of dedication to Felsted's Equestrian team, they will be missed immensely.
