It was great to have 25 pupils from Felsted School, ranging from Year 3 - Year 10 competing at Hemel Hempstead Snow Centre on Monday 25 April in the English Schools' Indoor Slalom Skiing Championships.
 

The pupils were racing across the different age categories which meant we had girls and boys in the U10, U12, U14 and U16 age groups. It was clear early in the day that the competition was going to be a tough one, with some of the competitors being full time skiers on the slopes of Europe during the winter months. That certainly didn’t mean we were out of our depth, just that the podium places were out of reach. 
 

All of the skiers had a 30 minute practice session, followed by a course inspection and 2 competitive runs. The slalom course was tight and it required bravery, good technique and an ounce of luck to record a good time. The course became a little tricky over time with certain sections catching a few skiers out, but with two runs the Felsted team had a good strategy of making sure one of the runs counted. Those who came in the top 5 in their category clinched a medal and so many congratulations to Hollie E for achieving this accolade. 

Well done to all those who took on the challenge and Felsted had 7 teams entered with the team results below. Many thanks to those parents who travelled and supported all the skiers on the day. A special thanks to Siobhan Page for her hard work in making this event happen.
