Felsted’s Christopher Pougin recently travelled to France with the U16 German Hockey team to play against their French U18 counterparts.
Having arrived late afternoon in Paris on 29 April they partook in their first training session as a squad and the following Tuesday played their first match against the U18 France team, in which Germany won an exciting match 5-4. The following day they battled the same opponents but lost 3-2 in a very close game that went down to the wire.
The final game in the 3 match series was another evenly contested affair with the German youngsters running out winners to seal the 3 match series two games to one.
The squad also enjoyed excursions to Paris to visit sites such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame where the team bonded and have become close friends.
This was a fantastic experience for Christopher who will be hoping to be to selected to play against England next year!
He has also been a key member of the Felsted 1st XI hockey team this year.
