OF Artist Shines a Light for the NHS

OF Bruce Munro (fh68-77) is an incredible artist who uses the medium of light to create some of the most fantastic art installations around the world. His latest project 'Ribbon of Light' is a tribute to the NHS.

This summer, Bruce is creating a simmering Ribbon of Light along the ridge of Long Knoll in Wiltshire, nearby to his studio, as a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our NHS workers and volunteers. This beautiful, light catching installation will be made-up of thousands of CDs and run adjacent to the public footpath and is free to be enjoyed by all.

The artwork aims to serve as a glimmering reminder of those selflessly working for the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic.

Bruce explains, "We are doing this for our fantastic NHS and now have all 120,000 CDs pledged. When the lockdown is eased my family and studio team will complete the 1,650m installation over the next few months - unfortunately there’s rather a lot of stinging nettles at this time of year!"

The Ribbon of Light is due to take around three to four months to complete and once finished it is expected to remain in place for a year.
