Top Music Conservatoire Offers

We are very happy to announce that two Felsted musicians, Kaylea C and Tom W, have both received offers to study music at top Conservatoires.

Kaylea successfully auditioned and received two offers to study BMus Piano Performance - one at the The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the other, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, which was also Kaylea's first choice. In addition, Kaylea has been offered a partial scholarship to Trinity. Kaylea's parents commented;

'We are immensely proud. Thank you to the Felsted team, especially Miss Farr, Mrs Salmon and Mr Warns, for supporting her throughout her journey, not just this year, but ever since she has been with the school. Felsted has been instrumental in her development and achievement!'

Tom has received a partial scholarship from Trinity Laban which was also his first choice. Tom's parents commented;

'We are over the moon for him and so incredibly proud of him'.

Conservatoires such as these deliver expert education in music including performance, composition, conducting, music theory and music history with performance-based courses that are industry-focused to help prepare their students to be career-ready musicians, performers, producers and entrepreneurs. Students will have the opportunity to develop their skills as musicians through specialist one-to-one tuition, ensemble study and creative projects.

Both Kaylea and Tom have led busy, active musical careers during their time at Felsted. Kaylea is leader of the School Orchestra, sings in the Chapel Choir, is part of chamber groups at school and has been a musician in the pit bands for various Felsted productions including; 'Beauty and the Beast', 'My Fair Lady' and 'Oliver!'. Kaylea commented;

"My goals for the future are to develop my skills in solo performance and to take part in international competitions. I would also like to become a collaborative pianist and form my own chamber group. One of my interests is in musical theatre and I am currently part of National Youth Music Theatre as a musician and I also aim to work with pit bands/orchestras in the West End theatres and would like to pursue a career as a musical director".

Tom is part of Felsted's Choir, Orchestra and Jazz Band and has also enjoyed playing badminton for the school. Tom commented;

"I would like to be a performing musician, be that in an orchestra, chamber group, West End pit band or solo".

Mr Warns, Director of Music, comments; “I was delighted to receive the news of Kaylea and Tom's offers from their first choice conservatoires. During their time at Felsted it has been great to watch them each develop their musical skills, playing in various ensembles and regularly performing at school in concerts. These courses will provide them with the opportunity to develop their abilities with specialist tuition and exciting performance opportunities''.
