Through to the U18 National Rugby Finals

Through to the U18 National Rugby Finals

Felsted have booked their place in the U18 Vase National Final of the Continental Tyres School Cup after a thrilling semi final match against Durham School on Saturday 2 March at Aylesbury RFC.

Felsted will play Ivybridge Community College on Thursday 14 March at the home of rugby, which promises to be a spectacular day of school rugby - with finals for the U15 and U18 Vase and Cups all taking place at the 80,000 seat London stadium.

The semi final clash with Durham school was another nail-biting tie with the game hanging in the balance right up until the final seconds. Felsted raced into an early lead with some excellent and dominant play with great attacking pressure, this led to two excellent tries giving Felsted a half time lead of 10 v 7.

With Felsted digging deep in the second and holding off the pressure from Durham, they looked to be heading to the final, but with 5 minutes remaining, some quick attacking play from Durham found them space on the wing and after a well drilled lineout, they carried the ball over the line for a try and then converted it, taking them to a 14-13 lead with just seconds remaining.

Felsted restarted play and carried the ball deep down into Durham’s half, a penalty was awarded to Felsted and Harry C kicked for glory, sending Felsted to a 16-14 lead with only stoppage time left on the clock. However, there was still time for one last Durham attack, but they failed to convert a penalty with the last kick of the game and Felsted celebrated another amazing win!
