Senior Girls' Netball Match Reports (Week 5 - Spring Term '23)

Felsted vs Royal Hospital School - 4 February

3rd VII

The 3rd team won 19-13 with the defence dominating the game at both ends of the court. Felsted’s strong defensive unit of Ava S, Martha L and Jorja B picked up numerous turnovers and rebounds and were strong getting the ball through the court. Our shooters Amelia F, Holly P and Melissa J had to work hard to shoot over the top of the tall defence of RHS. In the mid court, we improved our range of passing, concentrating on passing the ball to the player driving forward, and Maisie W, Ava R, Christina M and Olivia R worked hard through the mid court, and fed the shooters strongly. The last quarter was end to end and was a draw, but overall Felsted won and Martha L was Player of the Match.

U15 A

On 4 February the U15A travelled away to RHS for a fantastic win 25 Felsted, 14 RHS. It was a great game from the moment the first centre pass was taken with the girls taking a 5-1 lead in the first quarter. The GK Roberta managed to mark her player out of the game, along with GD Issy, who kept tight to the very fast RHS GA, hence only allowing them just one goal. Arabella delivered some great centre passes to allow the ball to travel directly into the Goal circle and at half time the GS Lula along with GA Amelia had a score of 15 -7.  In the third quarter the girls worked relentlessly as the ball was bouncing back and forth from end to end with both teams turning the ball over in the mid court area, but in the 4th quarter the girls managed to settle back into transitioning from defence to attack without careless mistakes which gave them the ability to  pull away into a great lead, giving us the  convincing win  we deserved.  An outstanding team effort from all the girls and this week our Player of the Match was Lula R.

U15 C

It was a tough match for the travelling 15C team. There were moments of strong defence and quick counterattack but RHS proved too strong. It was a very physical game and the girls stood the test admirably but unfortunately were defeated 26-2.

U14 B

The U14B team started off the match presenting a strong front against RHS and winning the first quarter. Sadly RHS fought back in the second and third quarter until the 2 teams were equal 12-12. Unfortunately, despite great determination and an impressive show of passes and interceptions, the girls lost 19-14 with IBK being named Player of the Match.

U14 C

The U14C girls had a very tough physical first quarter against RHS. Once the girls slowed down in the second quarter they played and passed as a team. The girls never gave up and had the majority of play up the shooter's end.  We had lots of shots on goals. The girls have improved over the past 2 matches. We drew 10-10 all and Player of the Match was Petal O.
