Senior Girls' Hockey Match Report (Week 10 - Autumn Term '23)
It was a good week to play New Hall allowing all the pupils in the play to participate in the sporting fixture. Every team played well and it was good to get the majority of wins. Thank you to all the coaches and parents for making the games happen.
1st XI v New Hall (18.11)
3-0 (W) POM: Maddy A
It was a short trip to New Hall for the local derby. New Hall were a tough defence to beat but it was a lovely executed short corner from Hannah B to Maddy A for a lovely deflection making it 1-0. Felsted struggled to get momentum during the game but did manage to get another two goals to make it 3-0 by the end of the game. It was good to get the win in a short game but still a few things to work on before round 3 of the plate.
2nd XI v New Hall (18.11)
8-0 (W) Lola S x2, Jemima B x2, Maya B x2, Noor L, Bea M
The Regiment Way Derby always gets the juices flowing and the girls were eager not to let their unbeaten record slip against the most local of rivals. Felsted came out of the blocks quickly, establishing a commanding lead by half time with some clinically taken goals. Skipper for the day, Noor L, demanded even more from her team at half time but despite a lot of possession Felsted couldn’t quite repeat the goal fest of the first half, but the damage had been done as the game meandered to its conclusion.
U15A v New Hall (18.11)
1-2 (L) Maia T
The girls played admirably on Saturday against a blended New Hall team with some 1st XI girls filling in. Nonetheless, the girls rose to the challenge and played some smart hockey. Georgie G was a strength in defence and met the attackers early to thwart any New Hall attack. The girls are far more considered in their passing options now and this is benefiting their composure in attack. Maia T was a highlight in the centre and has really grown into the role. It was a tightly fought contest throughout the game but unfortunately the girls were pipped in the final minutes with a breakout goal. The final play of the game saw Bea A nearly equalise but the shot was denied by the New Hall goalkeeper. Overall, an exciting fixture and one that certainly marked the girls’ improvement throughout the term.
U15B v New Hall (18.11)
1-0 (W) Imogen D
In a thrilling match, Imogen's first-half goal secured a 1-0 lead for Felsted. The intensity remains high as both teams fiercely compete. Imogen's skillful play showcased her prowess on the field, setting the stage for an exciting second half. The team's defensive efforts are crucial in maintaining the narrow advantage. All the girls dug deep to stop New Hall from scoring. We had 2 break outs in the second half that sadly didn’t end up in a goal but great to see everything we have been working on in training is being used in the match.
