Prep League Bake Off 2024 - Round 1

Prep League Bake Off 2024 - Round 1

by Mrs G Paine and Mr D Maclean

Ready, Steady, Bake!

Filled with pastel shades and bunting, Ffrome Court became the Bake Off HQ as tables began to fill throughout the morning with an assortment of cakes and bakes expertly and lovingly crafted by our incredible pupils.

From classic sponges and chocolate cakes to intricately decorated showstoppers, each entry showcased the dedication and skill of our talented students and very soon became so much more than a league competition as pupils eagerly revealed their own masterpieces to friends and teachers with pride and excitement.

With the challenge of the judging looming, specially selected staff perused the rows of mouthwatering bakes and began the near impossible task of considering winners and runners up from each league. From sponges and pastries to cheesecakes and scones, each delicious entry was tasted and discussed by our panel before making what was an incredibly tough decision - who would be through to the next round?

It was a day filled with creativity, excitement, and our budding bakers truly outdid themselves, but it did not stop there.
On Tuesday the pupil work force were out on mass boxing, stacking and packing the cakes and bakes ready to hand deliver to our local key workers and emergency services.

Once packed in our school buses by volunteers from Years 3 - 8, twenty children then joined them to visit some of our local heroes and treat them to some well-deserved sweet treats to show appreciation and thank them for the incredible jobs that they do.
On two buses, cakes were delivered to:
Dunmow fire station
Farleigh Hospice
Glendale Care Home
Essex and Hertfordshire Air Ambulance
Broomfield Hospital Children’s ward

The recipients could not have been more delighted with their well deserved parcels and expressed such thanks and gratitude at the kind and thoughtful gesture.
It really was an incredible experience for pupils and staff and we extend our sincerest congratulations to all participants for their hard work and dedication. Your enthusiasm made this competition truly memorable. Thank you to our judges for their expertise and taking on this incredibly difficult task, and to all parents for your continued support.
