Monty Achieves Silver at Youth Polo World Cup

Monty T, Year 8
SILVER MEDAL IN THE YOUTH POLO WORLD CUP - Last summer Monty was selected from 1,000 players to play for the UK Youth Polo Team in the Youth World Cup in Dubai. Over half term it happened!

The team stayed at Al Habtoor Polo Resort where the first part of the tournament took place on Tuesday and that was the first time they had ridden since arriving in Dubai. They played brilliantly, especially considering they hadn't ridden the tournament horses beforehand, and won both of their games. For the rest of the week they played polo twice per day, training and selecting the horses they wanted to play in the final.

The final took place on Friday and they again played brilliantly. They drew to DPEC 4-4 and to Habtoor 3-3, having conceded a penalty to Habtoor. Unfortunately Habtoor beat DPEC 3-2 and so Monty's team lost out to 1st place.  The winning team consisted of the son of Sheikh Habtoor, the grandson of Sheikh Maktoum and the son of one of the best professional polo players in the world, so they are more than happy to have placed 2nd to them!

It was a fantastic week of polo and meeting new people and Monty has been asked to play with the Habtoor team when he next goes back to Dubai.
