Prep Boys' Hockey Match Reports (v Orwell Park & St Cedd's)

Prep Boys' Hockey Match Reports (v Orwell Park & St Cedd's)

U13A v Orwell Park
This game showed exactly what it means to be a squad. Two players who had been ill in the week and one with a long term injury, came to show their support and encourage their team mates. With two of the playing team carrying injuries also, it was a delicate balance to ensure each player could fulfil their role, and they did this with courage and enthusiasm. 1-1 at half time it was all to play for, and the space found on the right hand side allowed for accurate passing and a goal for Felsted to seal the win! A fantastic effort by every single boy, very well played. This weeks training will focus on rebounds off the keepers pads.

U13B v Orwell Park
This was a nail biting encounter from start to finish! Felsted played some wonderful hockey, passing the ball with accuracy and moving off the ball in support of team mates. Despite many D entries, the score at half time was 0-2. After a rousing team talk, the boys were energised and determined to score the next goal, which they did! What unfolded next was a real crowd pleaser of a second half, with Felsted scoring 5 goals! The overall score of 5-3 reflects determination, resilience and outstanding team play - well done boys. This week we shall focus on free hits within our own half.

U13C v Orwell Park
It is always nice to score lots of goals and concede none! A great performance from the boys with a tremendous work rate and a really positive focus on attacking hockey. If I was being very fussy I would say a few players hung onto the ball too much and our passing at times needed to be earlier and quicker. Having said that, the boys did score some cracking goals and their goalkeeper made some brilliant saves. Overall a really pleasing team performance. A special thank you to Stanley W who played in goal for us before playing his U12 fixture!

U12A v Orwell Park
Another fantastic performance from the boys, and a comprehensive 8-0 victory. It was fantastic to see the side build on the fantastic start to the term. Goals were shared around, whilst the defence unit ensured another clean sheet. Despite such a convincing performance, it is our composure in front of goal which we will look to work on going forward.

U12B v Orwell Park
A fantastic performance by the U12B side culminating in a 4-1 victory. It was particularly pleasing to see the team playing excellent hockey, and not relying on any one individual. This was most obvious in the middle of the pitch, where the passing was clinical, freeing up space as we attacked the opposition D.

U11A v Orwell Park
A great game of end to end hockey by Felsted against Orwell park. They were really unfortunate not to come away with a victory but they did play really well. They were starting to string some passes together and were really good at attacking down the wings. The defence was really strong and the boys should be really proud of themselves.

U11C v Orwell Park
A great game to start our season off.  The boys ran their hearts out and came out on top scoring two good goals.  Our passing and game play improved over the course of the match and our defence was extremely resolute.  Very well done to all the boys.

U10A v St Cedd's
It was a good first game for the U10 boys, it was a tough game with no subs but a lot could be learnt from their first game. Rory did a very good job in goal and there was some really good defending from Xavier. The boys started to learn to play wide around the opposition and not through the middle of the pitch. This is what we will be looking at in training as well as more confidence on the ball and making good strong passes.

U10B v St Cedd's
Well done to the boys who participated in their first fixture of the year. The team really stuck at it for the full 40 mins. We will be working on moving the ball to the wider channels in training.
