Saturday 20 May vs Brentwood

1st XI (NDCM) vs Brentwood

Scores:
Brentwood: 121-5
Felsted: 109-8

Individual highlights:

  • Archie M: New ball bowling
  • Seb J: Outstanding boundary fielding
  • George C: Counter-attacking innings

Report:
After winning the toss, Brentwood decided to bat first and managed to score 121 runs. Felsted bowled and fielded very well on a small ground, preventing Brentwood from scoring freely and taking wickets at regular intervals.
Despite facing early setbacks and losing a few wickets, Felsted displayed determination and resilience during their run chase. The middle and lower order batsmen stepped up admirably, forming partnerships and playing some impressive shots.
In the end, Felsted fell just short of the target. It was their best showing of the season against a strong Brentwood side. The match provided an entertaining spectacle, with Felsted challenging their opponents and leaving everything on the field.

2nd XI (NFT) vs Brentwood
Lost by 57 runs

Scores:
Brentwood: 160 off 20
Felsted: 103 off 20

Individual highlights:

  • Austin W: 3 overs 2 wickets for 17 runs
  • Hugh H: 3 overs 1 wicket for 18 runs
  • Charlie A: 20 not out
  • Hugh H: 18 not out

Report:
Brentwood put themselves into bat and moved the score along steadily, through some very controlled batting. We managed to pick up wickets through some good catches but extras are still an issue with 53 runs being given away.
When we batted, we lost early wickets, up against some accurate bowling. Resistance started with Austin H picking up 17 runs but particularly well done to Charlie A and Hugh H with an undefeated partnership of 51 runs.

3rd XI (WCR) vs Brentwood

Scores:
Brentwood: 132/10 (19.5)
Felsted: 78/10 (14.0)

Individual highlights:

  • Freddie D: Impressive with the ball 3/13
  • George W: Two fantastic catches and great fielding
  • Austin S: 23 with the bat

Report:
Brentwood won the toss and elected to bat first. Their openers scored great early runs. Thanks to brilliant bowling from both Freddie's and some class fielding from Alfie W, Felsted managed to slow down their scoring. Brentwood finished on 132.
Felsted’s turn to go into bat with their work cut out for them. Both Buddy O and Austin S opened the batting for Felsted - facing a very tricky first couple of overs by an experienced attack.
Austin soon found his rhythm and looked to be scoring runs at will. After a handful of boundaries Austin saw himself dismissed for 23. A couple more wickets fell, and the target started to become more and more out of reach. Alfie W, Jo C and Adam B all showing great signs with the bat. Felsted all out for 78.

4th XI (DWH) vs Brentwood

Scores:
Felsted: 36 All out
Brentwood: 37/3

Individual highlights:

  • Alex M: Getting two wickets in his over
  • Harvey C: Wicket and Catch

Report:
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Will P and Toby C started off well by getting some nice singles however a run out by Toby saw the fall of his wicket. With Brentwood’s bowling and fielding not allowing any batsman any time to settle the boys found it hard to get any rhythm going and we were eventually all out for 36. Some good bowling from Alex M taking two wickets for a single run in his over meant that we applied a bit of pressure to the Brentwood batting order, however it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.

Wednesday 17 May vs King’s College Prep

1st XI (NDCM) vs King’s College School Cambridge

Scores:
King's College:16 all out
Felsted: 17-2

Individual highlights:

  • George C: 5 wicket haul
  • Seb J and Archie M: Batting partnership

Report:
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Felsted's captain George C led his team with exceptional skill. George's stunning opening spell was too much for the opposition's batters, as he claimed an incredible five wickets. Supported admirably by Archie M, who chipped in with crucial wickets, Felsted swiftly bowled out King's College for a mere 16 runs.
With a small target to chase, Felsted's batters wasted no time in their pursuit. Playing with confidence, they achieved victory inside just five overs, easily surpassing King's College's total. This performance marked Felsted's best team effort of the season, showcasing their strength in all aspects of the game.
As the match concluded earlier than expected, both teams engaged in a second game that offered an opportunity for all players to actively participate.

2nd XI (NFT) vs King's College School Cambridge
Lost by 6 wickets

  • Alfie H: 44 runs
  • Charlie A: 30 runs
  • Kabir S: 3 overs for 20 runs 1 wicket

Report:
Felsted batted 1st and scored a respectable 122 off 20 overs. A slow start saw us lose 3 wickets to some lovely straight quick bowling from Kings. Our middle order recovered well, taking the score from 25 for 3 off 7 overs, to 85 for 4 off 14 overs. We picked up lots of runs through some good running and big hitting from Alfie H.
Kings batted second and quickly got to work. Our bowling was a little off line and again we gave away far too many wides. Kings were in full control and scored the winning runs with 4 balls to spare.

3rd XI (WCR) vs King’s College School Cambridge

Scores:
Felsted: 131/7
Kings College: 89/10

A fast start to the match saw Toby C hitting a couple of boundaries off the first over, and set the tone for the rest of the match.
Felsted showed great confidence, and fantastic running between the wicket through the likes of Oscar G and Alex R.
Felsted finished the first innings 131/7.
Felsted’s turn to go on the attack and that they did with Austin S bowling heat at the home side's batsmen and collecting 2 wickets in the process. Alex R continued this on and managed to collect 3/9 off two overs. Some superb fielding by the whole squad and some excellent leadership from Freddie D saw Felsted win the match by 42 runs.

4th XI (DWH) vs King’s College School Cambridge

Scores:
Felsted 86 All Out
King's College: 88/3

Individual highlights:

  • Max O’S: 18 Runs
  • Will P: 2 Wickets for 7 Runs

Report:
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first an opening partnership of Tom B and Harvey Cl, with both batsman hitting boundaries in the first 2 overs, however some good bowling and fielding from a strong kings side meant that wickets started to fall. Max was next to the crease after seeing a fall of 6 wickets in as many overs, playing some wonderful shots he contributed a solid 18 runs picking up three boundaries along the way.

In what was always going to be a hard score to defend bowling from Charlie C, Charlie K saw them give away just 3 and 2 runs from their overs respectively. Wickets from Will P and Harvey C, which  saw a great catch from Tommy P were high points against a very good King's side who eventually went on to win with a few overs to go.

Felsted 325
King's College 280

Individual highlights:

The 5th XI had a fantastic 28 over match against King's. Felsted won the toss and decided to bat first. Starting on 200, Felsted scored an impressive 325 with notable batting performances from Luca P and Alex M. King's fought hard in their innings but unfortunately fell short with a commendable 280. The game was played in a fantastic spirit with Felsted helping out in the field for King's as they were short of players. Felsted even had the opportunity to bowl at their own teammates! Well done to all involved!

  • Alexi bowling: 2-0-9-0
  • Freddie Se: 2-1-14-1

Report:
Our captain, Daiwik, won the toss and elected to field. The decision was backed up by an impressive display of bowling by Freddie Se, Freddie St, Daiwik and Archie as the visitors collapsed to 30 for 4 off 6 overs. King's College then began to rebuild their innings and batted skillfully to build an impressive total of 145-6 off their 20 overs. Throughout the innings the Felsted fielding was excellent with many impressive stops, chases, throws and no over throws due to diligent backing up. Will S was also impressive behind the stumps.
After the break the Felsted batters applied themselves well in an opening stand of 90 runs by Freddie St & Daiwik P, which laid the foundations for an impressive run chase to win the match by 7 wickets in 19.1 overs. Good support from Archie, Will, Alexi and Harry contributed to the win as well as the visitors fought back towards the end of the innings. This was a much improved performance with the boys putting into practice the techniques and tactics that we have been working on to earn a well deserved victory against determined opponents.

U10C  (AAT) vs King’s College School Cambridge

Congratulations boys, you played amazingly well and I can’t wait to see how you all progress throughout the season.
