In an exciting start to the cricket season, the Prep School 1st XI played RHS in what was to be a closely fought contest. Felsted won the toss and elected to field first. RHS posted a respectable total of 88 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
The Felsted team responded with some excellent batting, but ultimately fell just short of the target, finishing on 85 runs for the loss of 2 wickets, with the match going down to the very last ball.  Despite the loss, Felsted put up a strong showing in their first game of the season, and will be eager to build on this solid start in the upcoming matches. The players showed great skill and determination, and there were some excellent individual performances on both sides.

After some brilliant batting partnerships Felsted won the game by well over 100 runs. Many thanks to all who took part, we are all looking forward to see how the boys progress into next week.

Wednesday 3 May vs Bishop's Stortford College

3rd XI v BSC

Scores:
1st innings: 8/109
2nd innings: 6/110

Individual highlights:
Freddie Ma and Buddy O with a brilliant batting partnership.
Kabir’s two wickets in two overs.

After electing to go into bat first, Felsted had a slow start with a few early wickets at the hands of the visitors. James B looked to be finding his rhythm, scoring runs at will, but a fantastic catch from the college saw him walk. It wasn’t until Freddie M and Buddy O's partnership, Felsted looked to be putting on a very competitive score. Buddy with some great boundaries and Freddie with some experienced running between the wicket. After twenty overs Felsted’s score was 109.

The college then came into bat. Felsted looked very promising with two early wickets falling to Freddie and Kabir. Unfortunately this was followed by a couple of dropped catches which saw the visitors find their groove. A later push from Felsted kept the game alive but was not enough. The College scored 110 with three overs left to play.

4th XI  v BSC

Scores:
1st innings 134 /3
2nd innings 136/2

Individual highlights:
Toby C's unbeaten 32.
Will P's wicket maiden over.

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, the boys bowled very well showing a huge improvement on last week. Some great overs from Will P and Joe C at the death meant we set a score of 134 to chase down.
Some great bowling from Bishop's Stortford, meant that Harry M and Will P had to be patient however once they had played themselves in the runs started to come. A batting partnership of Will P and Toby C saw some exceptional  boundaries including a big 6 from Toby as well as some clever running and quick singles which saw us over the line with two overs to spare. Well played boys.

U11A (RDP) v BSC

Lost by 33 runs

Scores:
1st innings: BSC 98 all out
2nd innings: Felsted 65 all out

The boys’ U11A team, led by skipper Freddie St, played a competitive match against Bishop’s Stortford College but lost by 33 runs. Batting first our opponents scored 98 all out. The pick of the bowlers were skipper, Freddie St (3-0-3-17) and Will S (2-0-2-4), backed up by a good fielding performance. In reply Felsted lost 2 wickets in an excellent opening over. Freddie Se (8) and Daiwik P (11) started a recovery batting sensibly in a 27 run partnership. Wickets fell at regular intervals and some strong hitting by Archie S (13) enabled a score of 65.

Play of the Day: Alexi’s fast ball that broke the batter’s bat in half (see picture)

U11B (GGB) v BSC

Scores:
1st innings: BSC 85 / 5 off 20 overs
2nd innings: Felsted 45/all out

The first game of the U11Bs season ended in defeat at Bishop's Stortford College.  Stortford batted first and posted a score of  85  which proved too many and Felsted fell short of their target. Every player in the team got to bowl 2 overs and everyone batted .
As ever at this level extras always play a massive part in the opposition's total as was the case in this match. We need to bowl straighter to prevent  bowling wides and this is something that can be rectified with practice.

U11C (ADT) v BSC

Scores:
1st innings: Felsted all out for 78
2nd innings: BSC all out for 103

U10B (BHP) v BSC

Well done to the U10Bs who participated in their first competitive cricket fixture of the year against BSC. On a sunny Wednesday afternoon, the boys had played hard ball pairs cricket, each player had a chance to bat and bowl! Well done to those involved.
