Prep Boys' Cricket Match Reports (3 & 10 May '23)

Wednesday 10 May v St. Faiths

1st XI, 3rd XI, 5th XI, U11A, U11B
Unfortunately after an hour of play and having to come off the field on a number of occasions due to rain, these matches were abandoned.

Before rain halted play the U11A team put in a much improved batting display from their previous match. They scored 126 off 19.4 overs with Daiwik and Freddie St both retiring on 30 not out and Archie S hitting a quickfire 13.

Wednesday 3 May v Bishops's Stortford College

1st XI v BSC
Scores:
1st innings: 97
2nd innings: 98-5

Individual highlights:
George C fantastic opening over
Will A setting a great platform

Batting first, the Felsted top order exhibited great determination and skill, establishing a solid foundation to build on. The batsmen impressively implemented their training on strike rotation, consistently keeping the scoreboard ticking, resulting in a more than defendable score on a still relatively slow, early season wicket.

George C's exceptional first over showcased his accuracy and control, putting the opposition under pressure. However, Bishop's Stortford College capitalised on some inconsistent bowling and successfully chased down the target set by Felsted in just 14 overs. While Felsted couldn't defend their total, both teams displayed competitive spirit and contributed to an engaging match.

U11C v BSC
Scores:
1st innings: BSC 90/8 off 16 overs
2nd innings: Felsted 73/8 off 16 overs

Individual highlights:
Milo had an amazing batting streak scoring 20 runs in only 5 balls
Dougie had some fantastic bowling which had 2 catches in 2 overs

Whilst Felsted had a great game against BSC, they were unfortunate to not come away with the win. The spirit, communication and energy was there, however a series of fast bowlers and some tough batting conditions made it hard for Felsted to catch the opposition. Each player received an opportunity to bat for 4 overs and similarly they were able to bowl for at least 2 overs each. I was really proud with their individual and group performance and can’t wait for our next match.
