IAPS National Squash Finals Success

IAPS National Squash Finals Success

On 25 and 26 April 2023 60 players in Years 5 to 8 from 15 schools around the country took part in the annual IAPS National Squash Championships at the University of Nottingham. The venue is one of the country's premier squash clubs and has 7 courts, including an all glass one with stadium seating.

Over a busy two days the players took part in 277 matches in 3 events: U11 Mixed, U13 Mixed & Open Girls. 15 Felsted players entered and all competed strongly over the course of the event.

The standout performance was from Sophie H (Yr 6) who won the U11 mixed competition, The Holmwoods Cup. She played a very skillful, high level of squash winning all her group matches and then dominating her knock out matches, including the final without dropping a game. A fantastic performance as she became the first Felsted player to win this event.

Archie S (Yr 6), Harrison B (Yr 8), Archie M (Yr 8) & Violet H (Yr 6) all narrowly missed out on a place in the knock-out stages and took part in the Bowl events on Day 2. They all competed well and finished in 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 3rd in their respective categories.

Finally a big thank you to the parents of our players who provided enthusiastic support during the trip to the Midlands, which is greatly appreciated.
