Follyfield House News (Week 11 - Autumn Term 2022)

By Michaela H, L6 student

The first term in Follies has been full of new experiences and new faces. Our main goal this term as L6 has been to make sure the new year 9 pupils feel welcome and enjoy their first experiences in Follies. I remember as a year 9 coming into Follies myself that the L6 were the pupils I looked up to as role models and for guidance. I knew, thanks to them, that we were always welcome in Follies and we were also welcome to speak to them about anything, good or bad. Hence, why this year, the L6 girls have made a conscious effort to provide a good example for the younger pupils while also making it clear that we are here to support and help them in any situation to the best of our capability.

As a house, our goal is to provide a safe environment with tolerance, kindness and respect, creating a community where everyone feels comfortable to be themselves. To implement this ethos, we have used Friday night activities as a way to get the whole house together and integrate the year groups. During the first few weeks we have managed to have: A dodgeball tournament with completely mixed teams, a film night mixed with Stocks's watching ‘Love Actually’, and kept up to date by watching the FIFA World Cup in the common room.

Excitingly, we have also sent out the order for this year’s House Kit which is on its way! To continue the house events, we have some festive activities planned for the following weeks to get everyone into the Christmas spirit as a very busy term comes to an end.
