Christmas Cosmetics Workshop Promotes Chemistry Beyond the Classroom
In an effort to highlight the real-world applications of chemistry and spark creativity, the Science Department organised a Christmas Cosmetics Workshop, inviting both pupils and parents to work together to create festive products in the school's science labs.
The event aimed to bridge the gap between textbook Chemistry and practical. Students and their parents eagerly engaged in hands-on activities, such as making bath bombs, soaps, lip balm, and bath milk, all while learning about the Chemistry behind these products.
The festive atmosphere in the science labs showcased not only the educational value of Chemistry but also the fun associated with the subject. Participants discovered the essential role Chemistry plays in our everyday lives, particularly in the formulation of cosmetics and personal care products.
Felsted School's commitment to nurturing students' interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects was evident throughout the workshop. By providing such experiences, the school aims to broaden pupils' horizons and cultivate an awareness of potential future careers in STEM fields.
Parents and pupils alike expressed their enthusiasm for the event and we look forward to putting it on again next year.
