Felsted Cup Senior Cricket and Tennis
Felsted Cricket and Tennis has had success this week in the recent cup matches and we look forward to a good weekend of sport.
Felsted U15 Girls' Cricket played Grays Convent High School in the first round of the T20 Junior Girls Cup. Grays Convent won the toss and chose to field first. Felsted posted a total of 199 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Katie A and Siena B led the innings with 70* and 30 runs, respectively, forming a strong partnership.
Grays Convent High School faced the challenging task of chasing down Felsted's score. They put up a valiant fight, however, they fell short and ended with 108 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
Although Felsted emerged as the winners, both teams displayed sportsmanship and played with determination. The match was a testament to the growing talent in girls' cricket, and it emphasised the importance of supporting women's cricket at all levels.
We extend our appreciation to Grays Convent for hosting the fixture. As the girls' cricket scene continues to evolve, matches like these serve as inspiration and remind us of the passion these players have for the game. We congratulate Felsted on their victory and look forward to the remainder of the Cup run.
Felsted U15 Boys' Cricket played St Martin’s, Brentwood in the third round of the Essex Cup in a T20 game.
Felsted batted first and Ollie M and Freddie W K dominated proceedings with a superb 120 run partnership in 14 overs. Ollie M being the initial aggressor finally being caught for 60. Freddie W K (57*) then took up the bulk of the scoring supported well by Joseph H (21*). Felsted closed on 188-1.
Felsted then made a fast start in the field with Bailey S (4 - 25) taking two early wickets with Danny B and Harry R taking fine catches. St Martin’s under pressure to score found life difficult with Tom N, Archie T and Freddie W K all bowling well. They were supported in the field and soon St Martin’s found themselves 60 - 5. Archie T (3 - 22) then took a hatrick to rubber stamp the victory. St Martin’s finished on 111 all out.
Felsted play next Tuesday against the winners of New Hall and Westcliff HSB at home.
Felsted U15 Boys' Tennis travelled to Brentwood for an AEGON fixture.
The team won convincingly 10-2, winning both doubles matches and 3 out of 4 singles matches. The team was Daniel S, Ben L, Beau P and Jack M.
