Essex and Herts Air Ambulance

By Margot S and Emilia M - Year 12

As you may already know, one of the eight charities our school supports is Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, which was presented to the students by Deacon’s in Heads Assembly last week.

Each year, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance save many lives, here is one example of the charity’s achievements:

Peter, a cattle farmer, was repairing his field when he was attacked by a bull. The bull pinned him against some metal railings, crushing bones and inflicting puncture wounds. Peter’s brother found him and dialled the emergency 999 fearing that an ambulance would never find their remote location in time. Yet within just 10 minutes the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance arrived and gave lifesaving care. Peter was flown to hospital, had emergency surgery and was able to make a full recovery.

This is just one story among many. For instance, in March 2022 alone they saved 222 people, bringing the total number of lives saved to over 28,000 since 1998.

All of these facts show us why the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance is so essential for saving lives, but requires public donations to keep running and saving lives, if they didn't get enough funding, countless lives could be lost.

As one of Felsted School’s eight charity partners, the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance is 'championed' by Deacon’s House.
