Rev's Ready for RideLondon
by Rev'd Nigel Little
On Sunday there will be a blur of Lycra through the village - then me trundling along!! - because in the spirit of ‘if you can’t beat them join them’ I’m doing the RideLondon - 100m race for the Lullaby Trust. In fact it has just been confirmed that I am the only rider for Lullaby Trust!
I am so grateful to everyone who has helped me prepare for the ride. People are so kind: some have lent bikes, others have provided maintenance tips, still others gave me hints on power levels, someone even offered me their bike shoes - I guess you only really know a person if you’ve travelled a hundred miles in their shoes!
Training is almost over and here are a few things I’ve learnt:
-
£1,250 enables the Lullaby bereavement helpline to provide advice to 45 first-time callers and trains 4 health care professionals so they can give advice to expectant parents.
-
I accepted this challenge but I am not sure that I am cut out for biking - I love the countryside but raging against a little Strava machine isn’t quite me!
We do so much to support charities anyway but if you did want to support the ride then you are welcome. (As I write in my story, absolutely NO pressure). God bless, Nigel
