Since the announcement of the temporary school closure, we have been working hard in the Music Department to help keep as many of our lessons and activities continue.
Our pertipartic instrumental and vocal teachers have been delivering lessons online to their pupils via Google Hangout or Google Meet and various ensembles have been taking place too.
Monday 23 March saw the launch of our new Virtual Orchestra! Orchestra members were sent copies of their parts and a video of me conducting - players were asked to record themselves playing and send us the file. Mr Burnelis has been working hard mixing all the tracks together and the first few snippets are sounding excellent!
We look forward to sharing the finished product once completed. Senior Chapel Choir are undertaking the same task at the moment and we look forward to releasing their first recording soon.
Following the school timetable, we had a first ever ‘Virtual Thursday Breaktime Recital’ this week and I am very grateful to our two performers, Kaylea C. and Deborah A. for playing so well.
This was different, but what a great idea of @felstedmusic to have a virtual orchestra during #covid19 #SocialDistancing Can't wait to hear the full orchestra recording! @FelstedSchool @HouseManor @MontsHouse #StayAtHomeSaveLives pic.twitter.com/Gy8O2pNIZH— Sylvia Abu-Jabir (@Sylvieaj) March 23, 2020
