We are incredibly proud of Kaylea C who has achieved 2 music diplomas this last summer in piano and violin. Her music teachers have commented that it is rare for the music diploma to be completed at 15 years, and even rarer still for 2 diplomas to be completed successfully in the same term. Both the ATCL and DipABRSM are equivalent to a successful first year of a music degree. Indeed, she was also the youngest candidate at Junior Trinity taking the ATCL for this summer exam session. This means that she is now entitled to append the titles ATCL and DipABRSM at the end of her name.
She had also bravely chosen to skip the first level diploma (ARSM) for violin and chose the more demanding DipABRSM qualification which is conducted in front of a specialist examiner and then independently reviewed. The exam requires a 1000+word programme note submission, a 35min performance, a viva voce and quick study - each element required a pass to successfully complete the diploma.
This achievement is all the more remarkable considering the current pandemic and the challenges this has involved with online working and many live performances being cancelled. A huge thank you to our music department for their support, particularly Mr. Warns and Ms Lam, who have given so much of their time and energy to help facilitate this wonderful achievement.
Kaylea commented “It has been such an amazing experience and I have grown lots as a musician”. Stocks’s House are so blessed to have Kaylea in the family and we have enjoyed a number of her recitals online and live.
