Franky's Play Selected for New Views Longlist

We are thrilled to announce that Franky S's script ‘Give Me A Name’ has been longlisted for the New Views Festival 2021.

New Views is the National Theatre’s playwriting programme for 14 to 19-year-olds. Every year, hundreds of students from across the UK learn about playwriting from some of the finest writers in the industry and write their own 30-minute plays. One play will then be selected to be produced by the NT with a professional cast and crew, alongside rehearsed readings of the shortlisted plays.

New Views have had over 600 scripts submitted in 2020 and 2021 and these have been narrowed down to a long list of 150 scripts. The standard has been exceptional this year. All of the longlist scripts are now being read by a panel of judges from the National Theatre and a shortlist of 9 will be selected from these.

This is a truly beautiful piece of writing, you are exceptionally talented. In the three years I’ve been working on National Theatre New Views and near 20 years working in theatre in various capacities I have read very few scripts that achieve the brutal level of rhythmic poetry that you have created here. PLEASE KEEP WRITING. If you’re this good in your teens you could be a very special dramatist if you keep working at it.
