Felsted Junior Guildhall Music Partnership - Autumn Highlights

It is a very exciting time for Felsted music, with more children than ever learning a musical instrument, taking Grade 8 exams and a number performing at national level. We are delighted to have seven students currently studying at the Junior Guildhall on Saturdays, alongside their studies at Felsted. These students are playing at a very high level and are showing serious levels of commitment with their music.

Shesh Abu-Jabir, (Joint First Study Double Bass & Percussion), Ruby Rose, (Harp), Mariella Bromfield, (Percussion), Sana Abu-Jabir, (First Study Percussion, Second Study Viola), Charles Campbell-Peek, (Joint First Study Double Bass & Violin), Ewan Cacace, (French Horn), Karathia King, (Oboe).

We also have three students who are playing in various National Youth Orchestras, the pinnacle of musical achievement for their ages

Charles Campbell-Peek auditioned successfully for a place in the National Youth Orchestra (www.nyo.org.uk), an amazing achievement at such a young age to be part of one of the world’s leading youth orchestras. His first engagement with the orchestra will be on December 27th followed by concerts in Manchester, London and Nottingham. He also plays for the Essex Youth Orchestra and with the Junior Guildhall String Ensemble. Charles holds Grade 8 in Double Bass and also plays the trombone

Sana Abu-Jabir has secured a place with the NYPO (National Youth Percussion Orchestra) and has already performed with them at St John College in Cambridge. She has also added Grade 8 Drum Kit to her collection (3 grade 8s in total so far!) and is currently preparing for her Orchestral Percussion Diploma. She has also gained a percussion position in the Junior Guildhall Brass Band and continues playing in their Symphony Orchestra. Sana also plays the piano and the viola in several ensembles and plays with the Essex Youth Percussion Orchestra once a month

Shesh Abu-Jabir will be playing with the NYSO (National Youth String Orchestra) in their 2019 Orchestra following a recent series of tough auditions. He is also the principal percussionist of the Junior Guildhall Wind Orchestra and plays with the Essex Youth Percussion Orchestra.

Stephanie Rodley sings with the National Children’s Choir, representing Felsted on the national stage for choral singing.

Hannah Page, our youngest Music Scholar, has recently achieved Grade 8 violin aged just 11, the youngest we believe to have achieved this top grade whilst at Felsted.
