Mr R Thear, Music Teacher
Felsted’s Charles CP was selected to play with the Chineke! Orchestra on Friday 28 May at the Royal Festival Hall in London, to the first live audience in the Southbank Centre of their summer season.
The concert, entitled Fate Now Conquers, demonstrated a programme featuring two new commissions from exciting contemporary composers Carlos Simon and James B Wilson, the latter of which, Remnants, is a work for poet and orchestra written in response to the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020.
Following these - the Dvorak ‘Cello Concert in B Minor performed by BBC Young Musician of the Year 2016 Sheku Kanneh-Mason, and a finale of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s deeply dramatic and majestic Othello Suite.
This was a very exciting opportunity for Charles as he once again represents Felsted on a London stage!
It was so wonderful to be able to welcome an audience into our Royal Festival Hall last night for the first time since March 2020— Southbank Centre (@southbankcentre) May 29, 2021
