The chapel was full for the Felsted Autumn Concert that took place on Friday 6 December 2019. The concert opened with the Orchestra playing the first movement of Mozart’s Symphony No. 36 ‘The Linz’ followed by Tchaikovsky ‘Waltz of the Flowers’ from Nutcracker Ballet. Things turned more Christmassey with a medley of tunes from the film The Polar Express and an energetic performance of Anderson’s Sleigh Ride.
Up next were the Funk Band playing Richardson’s Groove Merchant and Cissy Strut by The Meters. Senior Chapel Choir treated the audience to a sneaky peak of some of the items for the Senior Chapel Choir with a performance of Gardner’s Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day and an arrangement of We Three Kings by our very own Mr Reece Thear.
Steel Band were up next with a selection of hits including Downton and What makes you beautiful. The Senior Jazz Band brought the concert to a rousing finale with two charts by Doug Beach and concluded their set with Santa Claus is coming to town.
The concert was massively enjoyable and I am very proud of all the performers; the standard and quality of the performances was high. I would also like to thank the highly appreciative and attentive audience. I am looking forward to our next major concert next term, Swing into Spring on Saturday 7 March.
Mr William Warns, Director of Music
