Tawana - Switzerland

I have been a full boarder at Felsted since Year 5 and it has been the best experience of my life. The staff in the Prep School Boarding House warmly welcomed me and I settled in very well and quickly.

Boarding life has its challenges but it has been a very rewarding experience for me. There are always things to do, I never get bored and I have also achieved so much. In Year 6 I was awarded  a Mary Skills Award (MSA) in computer science and also had the great opportunity to assist in the school play with production lighting. Additionally, in Year 8, I became a boarding captain, where I had specific responsibilities including writing newsletters, assisting in assembly, chapel and other school events.

More recently, I achieved a Scholarship in Design Technology and Engineering into the Senior School. I have therefore been able to work longer in the department with access to teachers who have helped me improve. While I do sometimes get homesick, the benefits of being in boarding outweigh the negatives.  I have gained independence and I can manage myself. I am also proud of my accomplishments including the strong friendships I have made.

The Felsted School ethos is “developing character, making a difference” and I can honestly say that it is true.  I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for the nurturing and support from everyone at Felsted.
