Dr Jamie Shiers - Science

Dr Jamie Shiers - Science

Preparatory School and Montgomery’s 1966-1974

Jamie was a house prefect at Felsted and studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A Level.

Jamie went on to read Physics at Imperial College, London, before taking his PhD in Physics at the University of Liverpool, where he first worked on a CERN project, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics.

Jamie comments “It was certain books in the Physics library at Felsted that first awoke my interest in ‘Modern Physics’. I remember reading books on Quantum Mechanics and Relativity, aged just 14, and finding them fascinating. This convinced me to study Physics as a degree and then Particle Physics for a PhD, which in turn led me to CERN.”
