Senior School Virtual Chapel - Surprised by Joy - 14.10.20

C.S. Lewis describes joy as an accidental discovery. The writer of The Chronicles of Narnia, speaks of joy as a signpost, a marker, the longing after a greater reality. In his autobiography ‘Surprised by Joy’, Lewis describes his settled joy in adversity and his yearning for a day when sorrows will end. Today in Virtual Chapel, O.F. Josh Moody takes up the theme of joy and encourages us as half term approaches.

Here is today’s Virtual Chapel Service:

I hope you enjoy.

A prayer

Father God,

We ask for your grace,

grace for forgiveness,

grace for joy.

When there is discord, grant us peace,

Where there is division, please grant us the strength to find unity.

Prince of Peace, grant wisdom to all our leaders,

that we may seek mercy, serve justice and walk humbly before you.

When politics divides, when misunderstanding is entrenched,

please give us, by your Spirit of love, a vision of hope

so that we may persevere to build a future that brings all people together.

Amen.

Thank you Mr Warns.

Feeding Families with the Felsted Mission:

After half term we will be aiming to provide food and basic essentials for 10 families in the Eastend of London, through the Felsted Mission.

I am grateful to the team at the Mission. At the end of the video Revd Chesney says, ‘We will handover to the Chaplain’ but now it really is our turn. Rather than ‘handover’, we need to stand-up and help those who need us. Each House is seeking to raise £12 each week in the run up to Christmas, so that we can feed 10 families for the 7 remaining weeks of term.  Please do join us, please be generous.

As half term approaches please be assured of my prayers. Please do stay in touch.

God bless,

Rev
