Round Square - Make a Difference Day

On Monday 25 June, Yr10 and L6IB pupils took part in the ‘Make a Difference Day’. As a Round Square school, Felsted incorporates the Round Square IDEALS (Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, Service) in all its activities for Years 9-13 in the Senior School.

The day focused on Service, in this case, Service to our local Felsted Community. The school would not run without its fantastic Operational staff and it is important that the pupils fully appreciate how much they do for all of us throughout the year.

This last week of term is particularly busy for the Ops staff and we wanted to try and help the stewards, catering staff, matrons and cleaning staff as much as possible undertaking whichever duties they requested. In addition, pupils baked cakes to take to staff, and in the afternoon we held a tea party with the residents of the Alms Houses where some excellent conversations were to be had!

Other activities on the day involved helping the Prep School prepare a Mindfulness garden for September and helping staff in departments clear up for the summer holiday.

Finally, we really enjoyed welcoming 10 pupils from Stebbing Primary School who thoroughly enjoyed a carousel of enrichment activities including learning Italian, creating Artwork and taking part in a Drama workshop. They were delightful and were very keen to share all their experiences with Mr Townsend!

All in all, a very successful day, and I would like to take the opportunity again to thank the pupils, but also all the staff who helped make the day a success, especially during such hot weather!
