Plant for the Planet
On Friday 15 March 2019 a tree planting event took place behind the Philipps Astro Turf at Felsted. With the common effort of 23 students, 30 trees were planted in total. The trees were donated to Felsted by the Woodland Trust, the largest woodland conservation charity in the United Kingdom concerned with the creation, protection and restoration of native woodland heritage.
Our application was approved in November and the trees were delivered in time for the start of the planting season.
Deforestation has a major impact on the greenhouse effect; tree planting helps to reduce the damage, as well as subserves fighting with the climate change by absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere, shading asphalt from the sunlight and reducing ozone levels in the atmosphere.
Thank you to everyone involved; even though on a global scale our 30 newly planted trees seem insignificant, it is still a good step towards making a difference to the environment.
Tree planting is just another good example of how Felstedians are making their environment and our world more environmentally friendly.
