Harvest Festival Donations Making a Difference

by Julie Green, Head of Ffrome Court i/c Charities

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our Harvest Festival this week. All our Prep pupils did a great job of bringing in and sorting the donations for collection. The Sanctuary of the Chapel was full of donations for UK Aid and the items will be packaged soon to be sent on a lorry to Chernikov in Ukraine and the Revival centre. The money we raised at the Sponsored Walk last summer has paid half the cost of sending the lorry out to Ukraine.

Alan and Pauline from the charity came to talk to us in the service and gave us good news that our donations are so greatly received by the families there who live in cramped one roomed flats with a shared bathroom and kitchen for 12 families.

As a school we have sponsored a girl called Nastia for many years. The money we raised at the school discos helped support her family, doubling their annual income. Nastia is now a very successful athlete competing in wheelchair biathlons. We supplied her with several wheelchairs over the years and the charity said that with our support she has gone on to become a very independent and successful young woman who no longer needs our support.

We are now supporting a new family who are suffering hardship. Further details of the family will be shared in a few weeks when we hope to hold a school disco.

The collection in Chapel also raised £961.45 for Little Havens Hospice. This will be greatly received by the charity and again thank you very much for your generosity.

It is so wonderful that we are able to give to those less fortunate than ourselves.
