Felsted Prep Pupils Deliver Home-Baked Goods to Local Heroes

Felsted Prep Pupils Deliver Home-Baked Goods to Local Heroes

Key workers and members of the emergency services had a pleasant surprise recently when our Prep pupils dropped off boxes of sponges, pastries, cheesecakes and scones that they had made themselves as a token of their appreciation for their dedication to our community.

Felsted Prep League Bake Off Round 1 was a day filled with creativity, excitement, and our budding bakers truly outdid themselves, but it did not stop there. On Tuesday the pupil work force were out on mass boxing, stacking and packing the cakes and bakes ready to hand deliver to our local key workers and emergency services.

Once packed in our school buses by volunteers from Years 3 - 8, twenty children then joined them to visit some of our local heroes and treat them to some well-deserved sweet treats to show appreciation and thank them for the incredible jobs that they do.
On two buses, cakes were delivered to Dunmow Fire Station, Farleigh Hospice, Glendale Care Home, Essex and Hertfordshire Air Ambulance and Broomfield Hospital children’s ward.

‘Mrs Paine and Mr Maclean told me that the pupils wanted to do something to show how much they value the key workers in our local community, and they thought giving some of them a cake to go with a cup of tea would be a way to brighten their day,’ said Felsted Prep Head, Miranda Norris. ‘I am delighted to say that the pupils were able to meet some real life superheroes and the delicious cakes succeeded in making people smile and feel appreciated.’

The recipients could not have been more delighted with their well deserved parcels and expressed such thanks and gratitude at the kind and thoughtful gesture.

It really was an incredible experience for pupils and staff and we extend our sincerest congratulations to all participants for their hard work and dedication. Your enthusiasm made this competition truly memorable. Thank you to our judges for their expertise and taking on this incredibly difficult task, and to all parents for your continued support.
