Your Voice is a Tool

Dear Felsted Families,

It has been another bustling week here at Felsted and a big shout-out to our Year 6 pupils and team after their amazing residential adventures! As we head into the final stretch of the academic year, the energy across the Prep remains high, fuelled by both our collective achievements and our shared values.

A huge well-done to Smythies League for their truly excellent delivery of this week’s Chapel service. The focus on Malala Yousafzai’s story was incredibly moving and served as a powerful catalyst for reflection among the pupils.

In a world that can often feel loud, Malala reminds us that one voice can resonate far beyond a single classroom. It captured the spirit we hope to instil in all our learners: that your voice is a tool for real difference, and when used with purpose, it has the power to change the narrative for many.

This Friday, Mr. Fincher will be leading our assembly, continuing our ongoing focus on Felsted Values in Action. As we enter the final six weeks of this amazing year, we are taking this opportunity to tighten our focus on two key areas:

• Appearance and Uniform: We want every pupil to remain proud of the Felsted uniform. Dressing with care is about more than just aesthetics; it’s about coming to school with a mindset that says, "I am ready for learning".
• Punctuality: Respecting one another starts with respecting each other's time. By being on time and ready for every lesson, we ensure that the rhythm of learning remains uninterrupted.

On a more literal 'damp' note, the weather this month certainly continues to keep us on our toes! While it was disappointing to see our cricket matches rained off, the resilience shown by the pupils (and the patience of the parents) has been commendable. We remain hopeful that the sun will make a more permanent appearance soon, but in the meantime, we appreciate everyone’s flexibility as we navigate the unpredictable spring schedule.

Saying thank you is a cornerstone of daily life at Felsted, and this week I want to give a further shout-out to our older pupils from Deacons and Year 8.
 

These pupils have been working diligently to promote fantastic reading and learning habits among our younger learners. Acting as mentors and role models is a vital part of our community fabric. To see ‘Service in Action’ through these small, consistent acts of kindness and leadership is truly heartening. Thank you for being such stellar examples of what it means to be a Felstedian.
