You Are Special

You Are Special

Dear Felsted families,

“You are special, not because of what you have, but because of who you are.”

For those of you who may not know the story of Punchinello, our Years 3 and 4 performers have taken us all on a journey that highlights the power of perspective. Making an active choice about what and who can influence our own levels of self esteem seems incredibly sophisticated for such young learners, but equally powerful as it centres around being kind to others and ourselves.

The image shows a large group of people, likely performers or cast members, posing in front of a stage backdrop with the text "Wemmicksville" and "The Woodcarver" displayed prominently.

Kindness must lie at the heart of our decision making as a community and it has been heartwarming to hear the messages of this week’s production as we look forward to celebrating cultural events such as Hanukkah and Christmas in the days and weeks ahead.

In chapel today, Rev Little spoke of making preparations and to be careful to include all the ingredients needed to celebrate properly. We have so many different cultures within our community who are making preparations to meet with family, to share gifts and to think about being thankful for what this year has brought our way.

We know that every family will have different traditions and we are looking forward to this weekend where a Felsted tradition is set to take place on Saturday in the Senior School. Our annual Christmas Fair, organised by our Friends of Felsted team, will herald the start of the festive season as always. I look forward to seeing you all at the inflatables, the stalls in the LRH, Santa’s grotto, the food stalls, mulled wine hub and perhaps the storytime with Mrs Claus (wink, wink).

I would like to end by sharing my extra Felsted moment as my learning walk this week took me to Reception, Year 1 and Year 2! I entered a world of reading skills acquisition through the lens of ‘Monster Phonics.’ Can I say that I was so inspired by our team of professionals and most of all our youngest learners. They ‘rocked reading!’

As always, it is a pleasure and a privilege to be the Head of such an exciting place to be. I hope you have a festive weekend ahead!

Warm wishes,

Miranda Norris
