True Grit, Sparkles & 'Character-Building' Weather!

True Grit, Sparkles & 'Character-Building' Weather!

Dear Felsted families,

What an amazing week it has been. I was absolutely ‘blown’ away by the Year 4 immersive experience that led us into a world of discovery as we took a tour of the natural disasters across the globe. Thank you all for the generosity and wonderful interactions with our experts in the room.

UK weather fronts aren’t really in the same league, however, it wouldn’t be a true cross country League event without a little bit of 'character-building' weather! This week, a sudden hail storm threatened to call off the entire race. However, thanks to the sheer determination of Miss Westwood and Miss Reilly, who bravely headed out to risk-assess the route in the thick of it, the starting gun was able to fire.

A huge shout-out to our medical team, who not only kept everyone safe but stayed to cheer our runners on with amazing energy. Despite the icy start, the children had the "best time ever" and showed us all what true grit looks like!

If you want to see determination in action, just think about the hours of relentless practice put in by our dancers this week. From our rhythmic (and heart-melting) youngest performers in Reception to the poised elegance of our Upper Sixth, the Dance Show was nothing short of magical. The stage was full of sparkles and showcased the incredible progression of talent across the entire school. It was a beautiful display of hard work and creativity and our heartfelt thanks go to the entire production team for bringing such an enchanting showcase to life.

Dance is not the only physical activity to shout about; today’s Sports Celebration Assembly was a fantastic testament to the sheer volume of sporting involvement across the Prep school. We were as always, wowed by the sheer number of pupils standing up to celebrate their achievements.

To our parents: Thank you. Whether you were shivering on a damp sideline or cheering from the various viewpoints, you are the positive voices that spur our players forward. We couldn't do it without your unwavering support in all weathers.

This newsletter will be Chris Townsend’s last one as Head of Felsted. In all the flurry of the last few days and hours of his outstanding tenure, I know that he will take forward his memories of those who demonstrated kindness to others. His passion for leading the Felsted community with compassion, care, warmth and kindness will be the torch that we must (and will) take forward in his honour.

As we close the gates for the term, I want to leave you with a wish for the holidays: May you see and hear the positives in all things, and enjoy a truly amazing break with your families and loved ones.

With warm wishes,

Miranda Norris
