Self Belief and Resilience
Dear Felsted Families,
For those of you who may have seen or listened to Gareth Southgate’s recent lecture, you will have heard him speak of self belief and resilience. He talks of three things that build this: identity, connection and culture.
From our very youngest learners to our oldest across the school, we are constantly reminded of the importance of getting involved and giving 100%. This forms an invaluable part of our culture, as well as the identity that comes from the sense of belonging created by the countless opportunities there are to participate in performances, competitions, ensembles, choirs, matches, games, and activities … the list goes on!
On Tuesday, our Year 2 children took part in the Chelmsford Infants Music Festival, where over the course of the week, 1500 children performed a musical highlighting the importance of recycling and caring for our planet. We are so proud of their efforts and the joy they brought to the stage, and a special thank you must go to Mrs Clarke for leading the entire event this year!
Yesterday’s League Cross Country demonstrated that being present and ‘giving it a go’ helps to build commitment to getting involved in all that Felsted has to offer - even if the challenge is hard. What truly stood out was the heartwarming display of kindness and support between our children. From cheering on fellow runners to offering words of encouragement along the track, the spirit of camaraderie was palpable.
Today, our termly Sports Celebration Assembly gave us a wonderful opportunity to recognise the hard work, determination, and positive attitudes our Felsted pupils have shown throughout the season, and of course to give huge applause to the League champions so far this year!
Our League competitions are more than just a test of skill and determination, they are a celebration of growth, resilience, and mutual support. From a netball player making a crucial pass or a cross country runner pushing through to the finish line, every example reminds us of the importance of perseverance and kindness.
Thank you to our dedicated coaches, staff and parents for your support and encouragement. Your contributions are invaluable in creating these memorable experiences for our students.
You will see that we are saying farewell to some of our Felsted team this term. While saying goodbye can be difficult, it is also an opportunity for growth. Recruitment and change bring fresh perspectives and ideas, and learning how to embrace and navigate these transitions is a valuable life skill.
We thank our departing staff members for their dedication and contributions, and we wish them every success in their future endeavours.
As we look forward to the upcoming break, I would like to wish our families who are celebrating this weekend - Eid Mubarak!
My wish for you all is to have a restful break with your families. We look forward to a Summer Term full of blue skies and even more amazing opportunities.
With warm wishes,
Miranda
