Prep Head's Blog: Mr O is Head For The Day

This week we welcomed Mr O as Head of the Prep School and what a very busy day he had...

8.10am - Meet & Greet with Mrs Norris - Mr O to come to School House

“Today I was the Head and was so excited but a bit nervous. First I met Mrs Norris and talked to her about the plans for the day ahead that we had planned weeks before.”

8.20am - Mrs Norris & Mr O to discuss Chapel Announcement

“Then Mrs Norris and I talked a bit about the chapel service and how we were going to start our day. I was really excited about it because I was going to speak in front of the whole Prep School”.

8.30am - Chapel

“In the chapel I made an announcement, which I was really nervous for, but it was loads of fun greeting the school. I greeted everyone then told the school about a special guest that was going to be talking to us in the chapel service.”

9.00am - Visit to Stewart House - Class Observations

“Right after chapel we went to Stewart House to meet some of the Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes. I also did this with my brother who was also the Head. We had a look at all the class work then gave out some stickers. I really enjoyed having a look around Stewart House and watching them do their work.”

9.30am - Catering & Domestics Department - Behind the Scenes Tour

“I went to have a look around the catering and domestic department. The catering team were really nice and kind. Then I went up to the boarding houses and met some of the team that helped out with keeping the boarding houses nice and clean. They were very nice and told me lots about their job and what they do.

I really enjoyed being toured around the prep catering department.”

10.30am - Tea Tray to Mr O’s Office - Meeting with Mr Harrison-Price

“After the busy start to the morning I had a tea break with Mr Harrison-Price where we talked about some future plans for some rugby 7s tournaments. I really liked having a chat about ideas for future sporting events with Mr Harrison-Price.”

11.00am - Admissions & Marketing

“Soon after my break Mrs Godfrey came to collect me from my office. She took me to the senior school to talk about admissions and marketing. I met the marketing and admissions team. I talked to the team a bit about what they do and then signed an acceptance letter for a family wishing to join the school in September. Then I uploaded some images from the school year, to the Felsted social media with the marketing team. I really enjoyed learning lots about what goes on in the background of the school.”

11.10am - Science Experience Day for Feeder Schools

“Then I went to the Science block where I saw some science experiments like making slime and burning food with some other schools. This was really fun seeing these experiments being done.”

11.50am - Meeting with Mr Clayton (Bursar) - Walk to Bury for SLT

“After some science experiments we headed over to the Bursar to talk about the side of the school that students and parents don’t see. We also talked about financing within the school. I found this really interesting because it's a side of the school many people don't see and I learned many things about Felsted I didn't know about.”

12.15pm - Introductions to the SLT

“Even though I wasn't there for long it was really interesting to meet all the leaders that run and help the school.”

12.30pm - Tour of Senior School by Guy M-J

“I really liked being toured round by Guy as we went round and looked at loads of parts of the school I enjoy. We went to the gym, Science block, DTE department and Music department.”
