Prep Head's Blog: Cakes & Community

Dear Felsted Community,

We hope this message finds you well and thriving as we navigate through another exciting week at Felsted. I would like to start by celebrating children’s culinary creativity! We're still basking in the afterglow of an incredible display of talent and teamwork in the recent League Bake Off - Round 1!

The sheer number of entries overwhelmed us with joy, reflecting the dedication and hard work put in by over 100 kitchens! Just imagining the amount of washing up generated brings a smile to our faces. The impact on our community when these delectable creations were shared is immeasurable. We're filled with genuine wonder at the astounding baked entries and the fabulous spirit of camaraderie it ignited. It's a true testament to our value of 'fun' in action!

Future pastry chefs were not the only inspirational attractions this week. Smithies League chose Nelson Mandela as the powerful theme for our chapel service, and what a heartfelt experience it was. The dramatisation, crafted by our league leaders to address the issue of racism, delivered a clear and crisp message that resonated deeply with us all. Thank you so much to the Smithies League.

I would like to extend my thanks to our admissions team and to all the children and staff who help us to meet and greet and welcome visitors to our school. In particular, to families who have been eager to join the #FelstedFamily in September.

Our recent taster days for children coming to visit Felsted have been nothing short of heartwarming. Witnessing the warmth and hospitality shown by our students as they welcome potential newcomers fills us with immense pride. It's a testament to the strong sense of community and belonging that defines Felsted School.

As we welcome the half-term break ahead, we have a wonderful opportunity to engage in discussions with our children about online safety. In today's digital age, conversations about online safety are more crucial than ever. For those who may not be familiar with the Breck Foundation and its purpose, we encourage you to explore the link shared by Mr. Manley. Let's continue to have those all-important regular conversations with our children about staying safe online.

I am beyond excited about the events ahead. Lent Challenge, Swing into Spring, Red Nose Day, and World Book Day are just a few of the amazing whole school events we have to look forward to.

I hope you have a warm and cosy week ahead with your families.

With warm wishes,

Miranda Norris
