Prep Head's Blog: Be More Goose

Dear Felsted Families,

The Harvest Festival has certainly helped to welcome in the first signs of Autumnal weather! Coats and umbrellas have been out in force and thank you to our sports players who carried on as long as they could, despite the wet conditions - what determination!

During our assembly this week, we looked at the hard work it takes to ensure that we have fun. So much hard work went on behind the scenes prior to our Fun for Funds event and I would like to herald the work of our Year 8 leaders. The inventive stalls and games, the organisation of the shifts and rotas and the all important clearing up at the end contributed to the fun that was had by all.

Mrs Green has shared the outcome of the event in a separate piece and the amount raised for charities chosen by our Felsted pupils with inspirational service in action seen by Year 8 and a returning Year 9. Thank you to all and please dive into the newsletter to see the details.

Holding an Open Day at the same time as Harvest and Fun for Funds is nothing short of ambitious and we were delighted that our Year 7 pupils were also able to demonstrate leadership in action as they helped to tour over 70 families who wanted to find out more about our Felsted family.

Sharing responsibility and taking turns to lead was a further element of our assembly this week. Why do geese fly in a ‘V’ formation? Do check in with your children to see if they can tell you the following things:

  • Take turns to lead
  • Lift one another up
  • Leave no one behind

Please do find full details of our events as you move through the newsletter and can I draw your attention to the PSHE coffee and cake event taking place on Wednesday 27 September as part of our Wellbeing Week? This will include an opportunity to join discussions surrounding our PSHE programme alongside e-safety so please do come along if you can.

With warm wishes,

Miranda Norris
