Prep Headmaster’s Blog: Happiness

This week’s Prep School calendar quote came from the esteemed American behavioural scientist and philanthropist, Steve Maraboli, who said, ‘Happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them’.

Taking this idea, Mr Fincher’s recent assembly focused on our school values and how they can contribute to make everyone’s life that little bit happier.  Our actions, both positive and negative, have a huge impact upon those around us and their level of happiness in particular. I thank him greatly for his thoughts that he shared with the Prep School.

We have recently seen a whole myriad of activities across all phases of the school. We have welcomed in a number of next year’s Reception intake for Stay and Play. I was privileged to spend some time with Year 5 and their parents experiencing Forest School; a wonderful opportunity to see the benefits this aspect of the curriculum can bring to our children. Our Year 6 pupils have been sharing their work with their parents, before experiencing a Maths lesson! Quite an eye opener for some of them I think! We intend to roll this out further as the year progresses with other age groups.

We also recently enjoyed a delightful Pre-Prep Harvest Festival and I am eternally grateful for the generosity that the whole Pre-Prep community bestowed upon us
