Opportunity, Growth and Shared Purpose

Opportunity, Growth and Shared Purpose

Welcome back! It is a great privilege to lead Felsted into the Summer Term - a term full of opportunity, growth and shared purpose.

Felsted pupils back for the Summer term.

It was no accident that we started the term with a Chapel service - Christian values have underpinned the Felsted School ethos for 462 years, and they remain core to guiding the way in which we approach our membership of the Felsted community and in particular the way in which we treat each other.

During the service, pupils were reminded of the story of the Good Samaritan. It is a story that speaks directly to who we are as a community: a place where kindness is not a vague aspiration, but a clear expectation and a core value that shapes how we live and learn together.  Like the Good Samaritan we encourage pupils to look actively and intentionally for opportunities to show practical kindness each day - to notice, to act, and to prioritise the small, meaningful choices that support one another.

As a Round Square member school, we also reflected on the IDEALS and particularly the importance of leadership and service in our international community. Every pupil, regardless of age or position, has the capacity to lead and serve through their actions and attitude. These qualities matter deeply, especially in a term where many will face the pressures of public examinations and the demands of a busy school calendar.

To help every young person thrive, we are focusing as a whole school on four clear areas over the coming weeks:

  • Personal organisation
  • Positive behaviour for effective learning
  • Time management
  • Personal presentation

All staff will be supporting pupils in these areas, ensuring that expectations are consistent and that every child feels guided, encouraged and well‑prepared.

Above all, our community was reminded of a simple but powerful message: to do everything in love. If we hold to this in our work, our relationships and our daily interactions we will create a term defined not only by achievement, but by compassion, respect and shared success.

I look forward to all that this Summer Term will bring for our Felsted Family.

Garde ta foy!

With best wishes
