Living and Breathing our Core Values
Dear Felsted families,
There are moments in the school year that serve as a perfect mirror, reflecting the heart and soul of our community back at us. This week, we have had several such moments that left our staff feeling immensely proud of every single pupil.
One of our assembly themes this term is to "live and breathe" our core values. While we see these in the small things every day … a door held open, a warm welcome for a visitor, or a shared idea in the classroom … this week those values were tested in more visible ways.
On Wednesday, the school community had to respond to a serious and real need for an evacuation. It was a moment that required calm, cooperation, and a deep commitment to our routines. Our pupils were, quite simply, impeccable.
Our older students deserve a special mention; they understood instinctively that their composure would set the tone for our younger learners. By walking with purpose and listening intently to the teaching team, they acted as true leaders. We could not have asked for more. Our thoughts and prayers remain with our community as always and thank you to you all for your support and for the kind messages you have sent, it means so much to our teams across the entire school.
This spirit of leadership ties beautifully into our Chapel service this week. Our Cromwell team explored the legacy of Nelson Mandela, sharing how he used sport to build connections and stood firmly for what is right. His story reminded us all that kindness and compassion are not just "nice to have", but are powerful tools for changing the world.
Even during our Whole Prep photograph, the professional photography team noted that we reached our goal in record time. It is rare for external visitors to comment so consistently on such wonderful behaviour, and it is a testament to our children’s care for one another.

On this note, I would like to give a special mention to our Squash Team who recently shone in the National Championships. The IAPS organiser took time to write to me personally to share his impressions of the incredible behaviour of the team. Proud Felstedians indeed!
As we move forward, we continue to uphold our "FAIRW" standards: Fun, Adventure, Inspirational, Respectful, and Welcoming. Every day provides a new opportunity for our learners to shine, whether in the classroom or during unexpected challenges.
Speaking of "shining," the pans are sparkling and ready for this evening’s ‘Pan Fest’! We are so excited to gather in the Chapel to celebrate 20 years of steel drums at the school. It promises to be a joyous occasion, and I hope to see many of you there to celebrate two decades of music and community.
Many warm wishes,
Miranda
